    a property rose by a seasonally adjusted 0.9% to £156,442, up from £154,016 in May.

    Nationwide's Chief Economist Martin Gahbauer said: "The price of a typical house rose by 1.2% in May, providing further evidence of some improvement in housing market conditions over the last few months." The average house price is still 11.3% lower than a year ago, although this marks a significant improvement frmo the annual decline of 15% recorded in April.  read more »

    There is a lot of information in this year’s budget about what will happen in 2010 and 2011, particularly with regard to Income Tax and pension tax relief. The main changes are:

    In 2010 personal allowances will be restricted for those with income over £100,000, the restriction operating as £1 reduction per £2 income, just as is the case with age allowances.  read more »
