I've just had a great customer experience in a shop about 2 minutes walk from our office in Edgbaston, Birmingham.

I'm feeling very pleased with myself this morning as I've just passed an Advanced exam on Investment Planning! Why do we keep taking exams? The reason is the same as for dentists that take additional exams or consistently go on courses, I know they're doing whatever they can to be the best dentists they can be.  read more »

    A test case has been launched by trade unions in London's high court last week to prevent the switch in public sector pensions from the Retail Price Index to the Consumer Price Index. This change was announced in George Osborne's budget in his June 2010 budget and came into force April 2011.  read more »

    • From April 2011 the annual allowance will reduce to £50,000 (fixed until tax year 2015/2016)

    Private equity firm Carlyle has signed a £450m deal to create the UK's biggest dental group with about 450 practices across the country.

    Carlyle has bought Integrated Dental Holdings (IDH) from Bank of America Merrill Lynch and is merging it with rival Associated Dental Practices (ADP).  read more »

    The Treasury has now released the draft of the proposed changes to pensions legislation from 6th April next year.

    Most of this draft legislation reflects what was announced in October - in summary, those changes were:

    There will be no restriction of pension tax relief for additional rate tax payers
    The Lifetime Allowance will be reduced from £1,800,000 to £1,500,000.  read more »
