After nearly ten years of reviewing and fine-tuning, changes to the NHS Pension Scheme are finally arriving. Most NHS dentists will know by now that the new Scheme is to be launched on April 1 this year and the cost of being a member is going to increase.

From April this year there will be an overhaul in the self assessment system, making it vital to get your affairs in order by then. If you make a genuine mistake there will be no penalty, but if you deliberately understate your tax the fine rises to 70% or 100% of the unpaid tax if you don’t co-operate or act promptly.

Since the BDTA Dental Showcase in October in Birmingham I’ve been driving all over the country from Devon to Harrogate, and before I fly off to South Africa at the beginning of December will probably have clocked up over 5,000 miles. read more »

I have always thought credit cards were great - I bought a house on a credit card once, up in Burnley, when the old stone built terraces were selling for about £15,000. However you need a well structured approach to your finances, to use credit cards to your advantage and make sure you can save the hundreds of pounds available. read more »
