NHS Pension Changes

I've been checking the terms of the revised NHS pensions contract for next April with regards to buying additional years and from 1st April 2008 it limits you to purchasing only £5,000 pa of benefits. http://www.nhspa.gov.uk/site/nhs/pdf/nhs_pd_changes_in_detail.pdf
So if you're say 5 says short of the full 40 years, and your NHS earnings are over £70,000pa this is likely to affect you.
Even if the extra years buy you less than £5,000 a year now (ie you've got 5 years missing and your current income is less than £70,000) don't forget that if you delay buying additional years until after April 2008 and your NHS earnings increase then you'd still be capped at the £5,000pa.
So if you're at all interested in maximising your pension opportunities at retirement, now might be a good time to do a review.
If you want any help, please call now (well actually between 08:45 & 5:30 M-F) on 0121 685 5060 and speak to Lisa or Lara we'll help you to work out what you need to do.

Finally now we're on the subject of NHS Pensions, don't forget to nominate a beneficiary for your NHS pension in the event of your premature death. All you need to do is phone Hesketh House on 01253 774 797 and request a DV1 form. You can also do this by email to practitioners@nhspa.gov.uk.

If you're an NHS dentist you'll know by now that there are some changes afoot in the NHS pension scheme from April 1st 2008.
